AGREED, i fell for this whole story when it broke, i never thought someone would be so bold as to LIE about something so mportant that is no jokking matter whenitcoes to the "big yettie"
I also support you U.B i think the blogger community should make thr voice more loud and thr SH++T SITE TOO be removed from internet too
Sadly, no, you or anyone likely can NOT do anything about this. Why should you? Why should the press? No one signed a contract saying that they would pay a fee and get to sit in on a news conference. That's not how it works. It was all voluntary. And lots of people fell for the hoax. Remember, believe what you may, but there was nothing signed. So there's no contract, so no legal grounds to do anything about it.
It's just another hoax. And there'll be lots more to come over the years. So just sit back and enjoy the ride.
The Clayton county police officer lost his job and he should return the $50,000 he got from Searchingforbigfoot.com. How could you ever trust the testimony of an officer of the law that has perpetuated a hoax and gained money from it? Its interesting that he can't be found now, maybe it really was designed to be a diversionary tactic to stear attention away from the Russia/Georgia conflict as some have mentioned.
I believe the greater harm is that the waters of Cryptozoological research have been further muddied as a result of this fraud. For people that believe that Cryptozoology is a fool's errand, look into the giant squid, the coelacanth and other creatures formerly said to exist although there was no concrete proof. Now there is proof that these creatures DO exist, and in time maybe Bigfoot will be discovered as well. There are new species being discovered every day. If Bigfoot IS found, let us hope it/they will be allowed to live out its/their life in peace without being destroyed by buffoons such as these two from Georgia seeking only monetary gain. I personally hope Bigfoot is never discovered as I like to have a little mystery and wonder left in my life. Do we have to explain everything these days?
There are things in this world that will NEVER be explained, because they aren't meant to be. It is just a fact and a fact I can live with...can you?
I agree with you annon 3... cryptozoology is no fool's errand. I believe Big Foot does exist... but like so many species already found, man is sure going to make it extinct pretty quick or lock it up in a freak show zoo enclosure 'to protect it'...!!
so lets hope Big Foot stays a mystery until theres a time when it can be protected proper or human's have learnt real respect for other creatures unlike they have now for other species going extinct today like mountain gorilla's, whales and giant panda's
